I have a bone to pick. I've never been much of an up in your face feminist; I feel that if it needs to be said the person that one has to say it to doesn't deserve one's time. So I keep my mouth shut most of the time. Yes, certain people made certain choices and allowed themselves to be influenced for the worst. That does not give me nor anyone else the right to judge them and call them names. Why should there be such a double standard? Why does one human being deserve a degrading nickname over another simply based on gender? The ferocity with which I sometimes hear such name calling frightens me. What has this person done to deserve your judgement call? Why? Why do you feel the need to validate your opinion by expressing it in such a nasty and violent manner? Is it so that all the other people who agree with your opinion can feel validated too in this double standard they continue to uphold?

I am not a femi-nazi and I abhor the term itself. I abhor being up in people's faces about such issues. But this is a fine line that is being crossed, and I have drawn it.

I have no idea who did what to get you so upset, but it's been my experience that anyone who needs to berate and belittle anyone else to validate their own opinions does so out of fear. Out of the fear that they might be wrong. They berate and belittle because their arguments hold no water, because the only way to make them appear right is to make everyone else look too stupid to be right.

They're the most base creatures out there, and deserve no more of your time.

Aww. Thank you, babydoll. I know it's something little and stupid to get upset over, but I'd rather try to change people's opinions than to sit by and watch them influence myself and others to continue the cycle of name-calling and unfair, uneducated judgements. You know what I mean. ^^ Anyway, thanks for the word up. *hugs*

Oh, I understand you all too well. Somehow I've managed to turn damn near every one of my friends against me by sticking up for some of my friends and coworkers when another of my friends unfairly attacked them.
